In a sense, Ray Murray can be considered the alpha/omega of the New Games Foundation. This visionary of the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation (and later the US National Park Service) accepted an invitation from Huey Johnson to check out the New Games event at Gerbode Preserve. Ray met Pat at the event and invited her to make a presentation at the Bureau. At the meeting, staff members suggested Pat think about forming a non-profit to grow New Games. In Ray's words, "She left the meeting and came back that day and said, 'Let's do it.'"

From his early position as a member of the Advisory Board, Ray stepped up to become a Board Director and Chair once the organization between an official, non-profit corporation. His perspective and guidance helped steer the NGF through its many iterations until it closed.

Thanks, Ray, for all of your support.
